Sure, they know that parades are a big part of most gay pride events, but does everyone know what, exactly, these parades are celebrating? Hopefully, you can find some of your questions answered here. History of Gay Pride In case you didn’t realize it already, gay people have been around forever. They didn’t suddenly just “turn up.” In fact, ancient Greece didn’t differentiate between sexual desire and the people participating in that desire. Basically, what this means is that when two people desired each other, ANY two people, they were free to act on it and no one was going to say a word about it. It wasn’t until the Medieval times that all sexual expression was effectively squelched by the church. The whole concept of sinning and heaven and hell caused a lot of people to begin repressing normal sexual desires because they were buying into the whole sinning thing. Religion was being used to scare people and keep them from engaging in what had been up until then, a totally joyous and normal act. It wasn’t only gay sex that religion was putting a stop to, either. It was ALL types of sex; unless you count the horrible Inquisition when so called “priests” were allowed to torture and rape attractive women in the name of their god all in order to make them confess to the sin of witchcraft. Apparently THAT type of sex was perfectly fine and sanctioned by the church. It was during the 19th century when a Gay Pride event was first held. This occurred in Germany and was led by scientist and activist, Magnus Hirschfeld. This was held to help educate people about the gay movement. It was also used as a protest of Paragraph 175 in the German Criminal Code that made it a crime for homosexual acts to take place between males. June 1969 marked one of the most well-known gay events that seemed to get more things started. Police raided the Stonewall Inn in New York City because it was a gay bar. Following this raid, a group of people made up of LGBT people rioted in protest of this raid. This became known as the Stonewall Riots and was believed to be one of the most important events for the Gay Rights movement. It’s really amazing that there ever became a Gay Pride event in the wake of how hard everyone had to fight for their right to love and have sex with whomever they pleased. The very first Gay Pride Parade was organized by Craig Rodwell. It was called the Christopher Street Liberation Day and was held June 28, 1970. This march, or parade, covered 51 blocks that ran from Christopher Street to Central Park. Today, there are LGBT parades held once a year in many cities and countries worldwide. June is generally considered to be Gay Pride Month. How to Find a Gay Pride Event Close to You Most large cities have various publications that cater to the LGBT population in their area. These publications are typically very good about keeping up with any Gay Pride activities or events that will be taking place nearby. They’ll also typically have a page or section dedicated to a calendar of events regarding Gay Pride activities. If you know that you’re going to want to be attending one of these events, clear enough space on your personal calendar during the month of June. Since June is considered to be Gay Pride Month, that’s when the biggest events will be held. Keep in mind that these events won’t be held in just your city. They’ll be held all over the world. So if you like to travel, maybe you can plan your vacation around a Gay Pride Event that you really want to attend. Will this be your first event? Attending your very first event can be exciting and a little scary all at the same time. It’s best if you have someone that wants to attend the event with you. In that way, you won’t have to go alone and try to feel your way around. Many people attend Gay Pride events in a group. This is a lot more fun because you’ve got so many friends with you and, most likely, one or more in the group has attended Gay Pride events before so they’ll be able to kind of guide the rest of you. Even if you have to attend your first Gay Pride event by yourself, there are still plenty of ways to prepare so that you don’t feel lost the entire time. First of all, do your research. Find out exactly where the event you want to attend is being held. If you aren’t familiar with the address or the area where it will be held, look it up on a map and get directions. Travel to the spot a few days ahead of time so that you know exactly where you’re going and what the best route will be to take in getting there. You’ll also need to scout out the parking situation. Figure out if you can easily take a car, or if public transportation will work better. You can always find a hotel in the area of the Gay Pride event that you plan to attend and make reservations far in advance so that you can just walk to the event or step outside your hotel and be there. Also, don’t worry so much about being alone at your first event. If you have no one to attend it with you, it’s guaranteed that you’ll make some friends at the event itself. Volunteer for a Gay Pride Parade or Event If you’re interested in volunteering for Gay Pride parades or events, one of the best places to start is with the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, or GLAAD, organization. They always have a need for volunteers and would be thrilled to hear from you, especially as they’re media focused. If you agree that the media is obligated to cover issues of LGBT people in an accurate and fair way, they want to hear from you. When you volunteer with GLAAD, you’ll meet people that believe as you do. You’ll get to network, make new friends, learn how to do event planning, use your professional abilities to do fundraising or public relations, and support the overall LGBT movement. As a volunteer, you’ll be matched with projects that work with your schedule, interests and experience. It doesn’t matter whether you only have a small bit of time to give. GLAAD is still happy to have you. Imagine just how much fun it will be to actually help PLAN an entire Gay Pride event! If you want to help with something a bit more specific and less organizational related, there will usually be contact numbers listed on the calendar of events in your local area. Call them and tell them that you would like to volunteer your help. They’ll most likely be thrilled to hear from you and will find something for you to do. Coming out at a Gay Pride Event For many people, the hardest part of being gay is coming out to your family and friends. This is something that people put off for years because of the fear of being ostracized, criticized, ridiculed and looked upon with disgust. When you think about it, who can blame them? No one wants to be made to feel as if they’re horrible creatures that don’t deserve to live. And, yes, it really can be that bad in certain circles. Gay people need support when they first emerge from their very deep closet of “shame.” If their families and friends can’t or refuse to offer that support, it can leave a feeling of loneliness that is unmatched. Positive support is one of the biggest reasons that coming out at a Gay Pride event is one of the best decisions that a gay person can make. Many times, a gay person will have at least one or two gay friends that know their big secret. These are the people that you need to take along with you to Gay Pride events. They’re usually already out of the closet and living happily and comfortably in a gay lifestyle. They’ll be more than happy to come along with you and help you share your news with the world. In addition, you should consider that people attending these events are, at the very least bi-sexual, so they’re not going to ridicule you at all. In fact, this is where you’re going to get the most positive and moral support that you’ll be offered anywhere and from anyone. Overall, coming out a Gay Pride Event is probably the BEST way that you could do it. You’ll be made to feel accepted and you’ll feel the pride from other gay people that you’ve decided to be who you are. Attending Gay Pride Events as a Straight Person There are many straight people that support the rights of LGBT people. It’s not surprising at all to see straight people in attendance at Gay Pride events. They enjoy the fun and festivities. They also love seeing their gay friends in their own element and having fun with each other. Gay Pride events are created and organized so that the LGBT community can have something to call their own and can be themselves without restraint. So if you’re wondering if you will be welcome at a Gay Pride Event, as long as you’re there to have a good time and support your gay friends, you’ll always be welcome to join in on the celebration. Think of it as a bit like a Mardi Gras celebration for gay people. What Happens at Gay Pride Events? Something that you can depend on happening at all Gay Pride events is a parade. These parades are loud, musical, colorful and overall amazing. They’re not to be missed! Even if you’re straight and don’t approve of someone being gay for whatever reason, these parades are STILL not to be missed. These parades are the highlight of every Gay Pride Event. Depending on what city or part of the world you’re in, there will be Gay Pride activities organized to suit what’s available in that area. For instance, you can take part in some art shows for gay artists, Pride boat cruises on a river, Pride Picnics, and shopping among many different vendors that have set up exhibits just for Gay Pride events. It just depends on what sort of activities that you’re interested in. However, you can always find an activity that you like when go to Gay Pride events. What to Wear at Your First Gay Pride Event Deciding what to wear to your very first Gay Pride celebration should be the easiest decision of anything you’ll need to figure out regarding this topic. What you basically need to keep in mind is the type of event it will be. Some Gay Pride events have age limits so that only adults will be attending. Other events are all ages so there may be children in attendance. Obviously, there will be differences in what is allowed at these different events. All adult celebrations means that you can be a lot more liberal in what you wear than if you are attending an all ages celebration. Since you’ve never attended a Gay Pride Event and you want to dress in something special, there’s a good chance that you don’t have that something special in your closet already. So you’re going to want to do some shopping around for the perfect outfit to wear to your very first Gay Pride celebration. Now, of course, it’s perfectly fine to wear ordinary clothes like jeans, khakis, shorts, t-shirts, dress shirts, sundresses, skirts, or whatever you come up with. Those things, you probably already have on hand. But if you need something really special and different to wear, you’ll most likely have to find the best places to shop for them. One great place to find some really naughty and outlandish, but high quality garments to be a part of your very first Gay Pride Event is koalaswim.com. This is a website that specializes in mens swimsuits, thongs, G-strings and fetish wear. All of these amazing garments are created by professional designer, Michael David. He shares the advantages of his almost 20 years of experience when it comes to designing the swimsuits and under garments that men love. He knows how to incorporate Lycra and Spandex material into the garments that you’ll be proud to be seen in. Michael has designed some of the most amazing swimsuits for me that you’re likely to find anywhere. And if you’re wondering who would wear a SWIMSUIT to a Gay Pride Event, then you’ve got a lot of delightful and delicious surprises ahead for you. People incorporate swimsuit designs into their different outfits to wear at Gay Pride Events. Michael most likely took Gay Pride Month into consideration when he designed some of these swimsuits. One of the most versatile swimsuit ensembles is the Ecstasy Trio. As it sounds, this is a three piece set, but the pieces are sold separately. For those men with lots of confidence that want to really stand out among the crowd, there’s the Ecstasy Thong. Crafted with plaid Lycra, this is definitely a beauty if you want to get lots of attention. The Ecstasy Bikini is up next. It covers plenty in the front and just enough in the back. If you’re not sure that you’re all that confident with showing so much at your very first Gay Pride Event, there’s the Ecstasy Kilt. This cover up can be used over your bikini or thong if you want. It can also be used as a cover up for any other type of shorts or under garments. Fashioned after the authentic Scottish kilt, it can be worn with the same pride that any true Scotsman would wear it. Websites to Find Gay Pride Events When you decide that you’re ready to attend your very first Gay Pride parade or other event, there are some websites that you can visit that will offer you these details. First of all, you can start by looking up the city you live in or the city where you want to attend a Gay Pride Event. That will help you to narrow your search down a lot. There are a lot of gay men that love to go to these events and try to get as much attention as possible. These men should know that the swimwear options that Koalaswim.com is offering will definitely be able to get you some attention. Of course, you are going to have to consider what kind of attention you want to attract before you start purchasing items from their website. Koalaswim.com has plenty of items that will go very well for a gay pride event, but they also have some that you shouldn’t be wearing out in public. These more erotic options are better left to the privacy of your bedroom for the simple fact that they are going to be showing off much more than just your body. In fact, there are some items that will hide absolutely nothing since they are used for sexual stimulation and fetish aspects. If you wear something like that out to one of these events, then you are just begging to be arrested for indecent exposure. If you just want people to notice you at these gay pride event aspects, then there are plenty of items that will hide everything that needs to be hidden, but still give you the chance to show off your body. You might be surprised at just how much attention you can actually get from wearing items like this out in public. But what about those gay men that would prefer to keep their clothes on and still have some fun with events like this? Well, the simplest solution is to wear them under your clothing instead of showing them off to everyone. The gay pride event concept is to show support for your fellow men and women out there, and wearing these items under your clothing will be a great way of doing just that. You can still participate in everything that is going on, but you will have the excitement of your swimwear under your clothes to keep you going. Plus, you will get a chance to wear all those highly erotic items that Koalaswim.com has to offer you and no one will know anything about it. That is something everyone can look forward to. The best thing about purchasing swimwear for your next gay pride event is that you can wear them for other events in your life as well. In fact, since they are swimwear, you can wear them out to the beach for a relaxing day out in the sun. You can wear them when you head out to the tanning salon so that you can get the perfect tan or even while you are working to enjoy their comfort and excitement. You just have to decide which ones you would feel comfortable the most and purchase them through their website. There are a lot of gay pride event prospects that guys would love to be a part of, but they aren't sure how they should dress for them. Now, there is no reason for you to try and figure out a complete costume that you can wear to something like a parade downtown. You can simply throw on one of your more modest swimwear items and go out to have some fun. If the weather isn't holding up to your needs, then wear them under your clothing and showcase them for any after event parties that you might get invited to. Most gay pride event participants love to have something on that is comfortable and allows them to show everyone that looks at them exactly who they are. This means you are going to need to take some time and figure out exactly what it is you want people to see when they look at you. If you want them to see a fun loving individual, then you are going to need to find some swimwear that is fun to wear and gives you a boost of energy every time you put them on. That can be very difficult to do from a retail store. By shopping for your gay pride event attire online, you are going to have multiple options to choose from. Picking out the best design and style for you and your event is going to be a personal choice, but if you haven’t worn anything like this before, then there are some things you need to keep in mind. The most important thing to consider is whether you have worn items of this nature in the past. If you haven’t, then you will want to purchase something that is best suited for your level of experience. If you try to head out to a gay pride event with swimwear that is overly advanced from what you are used to wearing, then you are going to look a bit silly. Everyone is going to be staring at you as you walk around trying to secretly adjust yourself because parts of your swimwear are riding up in places that you would probably prefer it didn’t. This can happen with any kind of clothing you wear for the first time, but if you are in nothing but swimwear from Koalaswim.com, it will be extremely noticeable to everyone around you. Now most guys that go to a gay pride event that are used to wearing more traditional swimwear have probably never purchased them online. They will tend to go to their local retail chain and pick out something off the shelf. There might be a few men that have the option of going to a designer clothing boutique that specifically caters to gay men, but they still aren't going to be able to find the styles and designs that Koalaswim.com has to offer. You need to understand that these items are specifically created for Koalaswim.com customers and not for outlet stores. You will also find that purchasing your gay pride event clothing from retail stores is going to turn out to be a bit expensive in the long run. The main reason for this is that retail clothing is known for their cheap quality. You end up spending more money because you constantly have to replace the items that you have already purchased when they start falling apart after a few weeks of usage. Now, some guys might not care about that because they have a lot of money, but saving money these days is a very important thing to try and do. If you go to Koalaswim.com to purchase your new gay pride event items, then you are going to find out that the price is much more reasonable than any retail or discount store out there. Not only that, but the quality of the items that you will be purchasing is way above the standards of most other stores on the planet. Since you won't have to purchase the same item multiple times, you will also end up saving more money. If that doesn’t make you want to go and at least see what they have to offer, then nothing else will. It takes a very special individual to realize that participating in a gay pride event is something that they must do to show their support. Sure, it looks like it's all fun and games with a group of flamboyant gay men prancing around in costumes most of the time. But sticking up for something that you truly believe in, in this case the equal rights aspect for gays, is something that takes determination and confidence in who you really are. There are a lot of people that would never have the courage to do this, even a lot of gay men and women. Even if you don’t participate in a gay pride event on a regular basis, you can still enjoy the idea of it by dressing up and showing those around you that you feel the same way. You would be surprised at how many straight men there are that will enjoy wearing their erotic swimwear from Koalaswim.com at home while there are gay events going on in their town. They may not be out there walking the street, but they are showing their support in their own way, which is also a good thing. If this is your first ever gay pride event, then you are going to be in for quite a surprise. Not only do most events have some kind of parade where everyone walks a set course to some final destination that is pre-determined, but there are usually parties and other things to participate in after the parade. There are things that are as wild as night club walks throughout the night to interesting debates that take place at universities and other public access locations. All of these places are great for showing off who you are and what kind of person you want the world to recognize. Now, the after gay pride event parties will be a good place to show off any swimwear that you might want people to see, but the debates and public forums wouldn’t be the best idea. The public forums are usually filled with people on both sides of the fence when it comes to the gay rights movement, and that is not somewhere that you are going to want to be strolling into wearing nothing but a thong. You will have to use some common sense when it comes to things like this. The gay pride event parties, however, are going to be filled with all those wonderfully gay people that were out in full regalia to show their support for themselves, their partners, and the gay lifestyle in general. These are perfect places for you to show off items that you have purchased from Koalaswim.com since nearly everyone there will be wearing something that is highly unique and exciting as well. Just make sure that you don’t overdo it by wearing something that is too erotic for the people that you are going to be around that night. Joining up with other people for a gay pride event is something that everyone out there should do at least once in their life. Even if you are against the whole aspect of gay rights, you should be able to put your differences aside for a few hours to get to know the people that you are proclaiming to be subhuman. Once you get to understand that the gay men and women of the world are suffering from the same ills that the rest of society is and that they enjoy the same pleasures that everyone else does, you may feel differently towards them. The gay pride event aspect is not about forcing anyone to become gay. That is something that fanatical cults seem to think about anything and everyone that is different from them and their belief system. These events are about letting all people understand that it is a basic human need to be accepted by people in order to feel loved and welcomed. Everyone needs that feeling in their lives and, by denying them that feeling; you are putting your own hypocrisy to the test. Just imagine if it was you that no one wanted to give basic human rights to and how you would react. The most common part of any gay pride event can be compared to the civil rights movement in the 1950’s and 60’s. These are people that had no rights under the common law of the nation and they did the same thing in order to rise above the status that fanatical cults placed them in all those years ago. It took a long time, but they finally succeeded, and that is what gay men and women all over the world are looking to have happen for them. They just want to be accepted for who they are and nothing more. They are fellow human beings that deserve the same rights that everyone else out there gets to enjoy without question, even if wearing erotic swimwear from Koalaswim.com turns them on.
